My new musical obsession. First Aid Kit. I downloaded their CD, The Big Black and The Blue today after hearing them cover Fever Ray’s When I Grow Up…so very different than Fever Ray’s version and it’s beautiful. They’re sisters from Sweden and their voices compliment each other so well. And their songs are just beautiful :) LOVE!!

50x50 Update: Grow 50 Different Things #12

I’m home sick from work today which is why you’re getting a RIDICULOUS amount of tumblr updates…I apologize for that :/ I’m just really behind in updating my 50x50. But this little guy made me feel better when I went outside :) Apparently the daffodils that I planted are a little confused about the seasons and decided to sprout in the winter! But I’m totally excited about it because I think they’re the most beautiful flower. I was completely surprised by this…I have a bunch planted and none of the others have sprouted…just this one…can’t wait to see it grow…I’ll post another picture once it finishes flowering…should have a gorgeous yellow center once it finishes blossoming :)

50x50 Update: Grow 50 Different Things #11

I haz carrots!!! Actually, I have more than just that one carrot now, but that was the first one that I pulled. I’m shocked that they all came out as straight as they did!! But they are beautiful and OMG they are so delicious. They’re unlike any other carrot I’ve ever tasted. There’s just something about pulling food right out of the ground, washing it off and then eating it that just makes me so incredibly happy…and tastes like nothing else.

50x50 Update: Meet 50 People That I Really Want To Meet #5 - Renay
Yes, I met THE Renay!!! She was one of the very first people that I started following when I started blogging and I was so shy about commenting on her blog….but finally I did one day and I’m so glad that I did. There are few words that adequately describe Renay….that capture how awesome she is. But let me tell you, she is epically awesome :) We surprised her at work with my visit…she didn’t know I was coming and I got greeted with a big hug :) And then the next night….ready for this? I watched Inception at her apartment WHILE she wrote porn next to me! *ducks Renay* Seriously, guys…she put such a smile on my face, warmed my heart, and just made me feel so amazingly comfy :) My trip to Arkansas could NOT have been any better.

50x50 Update: Meet 50 People That I Really Want To Meet #4 - Matt
What can I say about meeting Matt….he’s the most incredible guy I’ve ever known. He made me feel comfortable, he made me feel happy, he made me smile, he made me laugh. He was exactly what I imagined him to be and then some more….a lot more. I had the time of my life…and I’m just going to leave it at that.

50x50 Update: Visit 50 Cities, States, Countries #1 - Jonesboro, AR

I truly did have the best New Years I’ve ever had. I decided to take a roadtrip this year to go visit Matt and Renay :) Everything about the trip was simply magical and wonderful and perfect and every other amazing adjective I could use. It was a trip that I’ll truly never forget…it’s been etched into my brain.
But this post is supposed to be about JONESBORO! The city is cool :) I didn’t really have any expectations as to what it would be because I had no idea what Jonesboro, AR would look like :p There are lots of hills, which I absolutely love…being from a city that is flat as a pancake and below sea level, I’m always so amazed by hilly land. I’m always just amazed by LAND as that is something that’s not readily available in New Orleans :p And there’s plenty of land in Jonesboro too..which I just find so beautiful. I love seeing empty fields…There’s something so serene about it.
Aside from hills and empty land, there is actually a city there too :p Which I loved too. I loved getting to see where Matt and Renay go about their business on a daily basis. It’s your typical suburban sprawl, but with a small town feel to it. I LOVED the weather there. It was just gorgeous. I hate the summer and the heat with a passion and I love cold weather….so with them being a little north of me, it was nice to feel that cold, much drier air. Here, the cold is just wet and gets into your bones. It was in the 20s there at night and it felt like 40 degrees here.
Can’t wait to go back in March :D

50x50 Update: Grow 50 Different Things #10
Tomatoes!! Only in New Orleans can I post my first tomato update in December :p I had Spring and Summer tomatoes of course, but my Fall tomato plants were late getting in and these are the first ones I’ve picked. I have SO many more on the plants too, but I’m scared they may all die…we’re supposed to have our first freeze of the season tonight. It’s a very light freeze. Only getting down to about 30 degrees. We’ll see how they do. But I went ahead and pulled all of the tomatoes that were decent size just in case. These are a mixture of Creole, Better Boy, Celebrity and Roma tomatoes. I really hope the plants survive, because this is the only night we’re supposed to freeze for the next 10 days at least…so that would give the rest of the ones on the plants time to grow a little bit more…I probably have about 30 more tomatoes on my plants right now! We shall see!!

50x50 Update: Support 50 Independent Local Shops #1
There’s a shop here in New Orleans called Scriptura that I absolutely LOVE. It’s a stationery shop and it’s amazing. They sell everything that a paper lover could love…which means that most bookworms would love it too. You walk into the store and just want to explode with joy. It’s full of rich, creamy paper, journals, notebooks, wax seals and wax sticks, fountain pens, cards, stationary sets, bookmarks, and all kinds of other amazing trinkets that have anything to do with the above. I could literally spend a couple of hours and a lot of money in this little shop. Anyway, I buy my Christmas cards from them every year. They have some of the most amazing designs, all centered around a New Orleans theme…and this year was no different. I went and picked them out yesterday. You can click on the link above to visit their site….it’s under construction right now but there is a link to their Christmas cards and to their facebook page to see more of their stationery sets.
