Here’s the shake mix that comes with my p90x workout and my strange plant collection :) I plan on looking like the guy on the shake mix container in 90 days…just so you know :p

So I turned 30 today. Everyone says that their 30s have been the best years of their lives, and I’m certainly hoping that’s the truth for me too. I’m going into it with a positive outlook! I’d like to get married in my 30s…or at least be in a committed relationship if that’s not legal where I am :/ I’d like to have my own house with a beautiful garden in the backyard and some animals. I’d like to have a child. I’d like to live as sustainably as possible. I’d like to continue to strengthen my friendships. I’d like to advance my career. I’d like to have fun. Not too much to ask for, huh?

Today was a nice day. I worked, but it was nice and slow and my boss bought me a cake. Came home and opened presents with the family. I got the P90X workout from my mom which I’m excited about because I’m DETERMINED to get in shape. I’ll be taking my own before and after pictures, but I’ll spare you the trauma of seeing that :/ My sister got me some fun gifts :) She got me a leather bracelet, a book called Craft Cycle which is all about craft projects made from existing things, and she got me the strange plant collection terrarium!!! Yay :D

After gifts, I went to eat at Serrano’s with my mom, dad, brother and sister which was YUMMY!! Then we went over to my dads/grandmas for cake. My grandma’s birthday is the day before mine, May 10th, so we’ve always shared a special bond with that. We usually do one cake for the both of us. As I turned 30, she turned 88. And she’s still beautiful and sharp as a whistle. On a sad note, I was also born the exact day Bob Marley was killed. May 11, 1981. So today marks the 30th anniversary of his death as well. I used to pretend I was the reincarnation of Bob Marley :p RIP Bob!!

Like I said, it was a nice day…quiet, but nice :)

What my garden gave me for my birthday….oddly shaped bell peppers. Fun way to turn 30!

So today was my mom’s birthday. And my sister and I decided to surprise her with a day out in the french quarter and brunch at Eat. Eat is this incredible little restaurant on the corner of Dumaine and Dauphine. It’s super cute..super chic…but casual at the same time. And the food is incredible! We started with Banana Fritters with Peanut Butter and then me and my mom both got Chicken and Waffles (it’s a southern thing) and my sister had the Chicken Fried Chicken. The Chicken and Waffles was so good! It came with eggs (gross) and grits too…and they covered it all with blackened cane syrup with blackberries, blueberries and currants.
