My poor plants are all confused by this weather :( We’re having quite the warm winter! I have daffodils trying to come up but not flowering. As you can see, part of my lavender is turning yellow and dying while other parts are budding new lavender! My pomegranate tree which should be dormant right now is sprouting new leaves…and a couple of volunteer tomato plants have come up around the pomegranate tree from the compost I put in there. And in mid january, they’re still thriving!

Today was so beautiful out that I spent a lot of time out in the garden planting new things. I hope this weather never leaves! It’s been in the mid 70’s all weekend and from the looks of it, it’ll be sticking around for awhile. It feels so good to have my hands in the dirt again. Nothing cheers me like that.

My mom and I hit up a few of the local nurseries today and bought some plants (and the amazing hedgehog that I posted earlier :p). I added a new herb to my potted herb garden this year. I found some pineapple sage and OMG it’s my new favorite herb I think!!! It smells so freaking amazing!!! I just don’t know what the hell to do with it now :/ I bet it would make delicious iced tea if I used it like mint though or it would probably be good on chicken too I’m thinking.

As far as veggie plants, I picked up my okra and jalapeno plants today!!! Hooray!! I’m expanding the garden a lot this year. Last year I had one stalk of okra, this year we have four :p So LOTS of okra in the future. Also upgraded to four jalapeno plants as opposed to last years one. My tomato plants are all looking amazing already. They’re loving this weather too!

From my own little seeds, I planted the ones that were ready to go in the ground today. I planted four kohlrabi, the zucchini and the cucumber. The rest are growing well but aren’t quite ready to go in the ground yet.

And then yesterday I put some tulip and hyacinth bulbs into my little flower bed so they’ll be joining the daffodils and the other random flowers that pop up over there. I swear I wish I had a whole plot of farmland :p I could spend hours gardening every day, but eventually I run out of stuff to do, lol.

I’m home sick from work today which is why you’re getting a RIDICULOUS amount of tumblr updates…I apologize for that :/ I’m just really behind in updating my 50x50. But this little guy made me feel better when I went outside :) Apparently the daffodils that I planted are a little confused about the seasons and decided to sprout in the winter! But I’m totally excited about it because I think they’re the most beautiful flower. I was completely surprised by this…I have a bunch planted and none of the others have sprouted…just this one…can’t wait to see it grow…I’ll post another picture once it finishes flowering…should have a gorgeous yellow center once it finishes blossoming :)
