I’m spending as much time as I can in my garden at my mom’s house and you would swear I’m saying goodbye to a dear friend :p I plan on keeping up the garden here though and it’ll be a good anchor to home too! These are all of the new tomatoes popping up on the plants! Well at least some of them…I have a total of 10 tomato plants here right now…all types of different ones. These are romas, creoles, and early girls.

Picked my first tomatoes and there are so many more on the way! At first I thought I was going to have a crappy crop this year but suddenly this new little burst of tiny tomatoes starting popping up so it looks like we’ll have lots after all! Lots of little cherry tomatoes and three bigger ones are nice and ready though :)

My poor plants are all confused by this weather :( We’re having quite the warm winter! I have daffodils trying to come up but not flowering. As you can see, part of my lavender is turning yellow and dying while other parts are budding new lavender! My pomegranate tree which should be dormant right now is sprouting new leaves…and a couple of volunteer tomato plants have come up around the pomegranate tree from the compost I put in there. And in mid january, they’re still thriving!

The garden is actually starting to look like a garden again with the new beans, tomatoes, etc….everything just looked kinda dead before :/ In fact, I think that eggplant in the front of the left garden needs to come up…it’s pretty much a stick. We got a whole ONE eggplant this year :/

My tomato that I planted in a pot seems to be doing the best…it has flowers forming already!

Are you sick of seeing my tomato seedlings yet? :p I’m definitely not!! Love so much how well they’re doing. Yay fall tomatoes!!

And finally, my tomato seedlings that I transplanted are looking fantastic after just two days in the ground!! Looks like they made the transition ok :) I can’t tell you how satisfying this is. This is the first time I’ve ever grown tomatoes successfully from seed!!! I didn’t plant anything fancy…two delicious, two better boy and two celebrity. Would’ve liked to do some heirlooms…next year!

Made some amazing queso today that was SUPER easy using this recipe…the hardest part was chopping everything up. But seriously…this is some of the best queso I’ve ever had!!

I transplanted my tomatoes into the garden today. These are the ones I’ve been growing by seed. They’re getting to be a decent size. They’re a little shocked in this picture and droopy, but they should perk up! I’m hoping they do ok. I think I may have found the culprit for the bad luck with gardening this year. I put a layer of newspaper and mulch down over my garden this year and noticed when I was planting these that the ground was drenched. I don’t think the soil’s able to breathe enough with all of that mulch. I also found TONS of snails hiding out under the mulch which would explain all of my poor munched on plants :( Needless to say, the mulch is now gone. Hoping everything starts doing better!

My little tomato seedlings are starting to take off! Looks like we’ll have six tomato plants for the fall :)
